The ministry of John was a ministry of baptism, calling people to repent. The ministry of Christ was one of judgment. Jesus came to separate the righteous from the unrighteous, to give life and death. It is Jesus in whom the Father is well pleased. He was anointed as our substitute. Through Him alone we receive forgiveness of sins and are not thrown away with the chaff.
