He Has Filled Us With Grace, Therefore Let Us Ask For More
Tuesday July 16, 2019 Text: Colossians 1:1-14 Speaker: Pastor Matthew Ude Festival: Trinity Passages: Colossians 1:1-14
In the first part of our sermon text, Paul lists all the blessings which God has given to the Colossians. All of these things He has given to you too. Paul then prays with boldness that God would grant the Colossians even more grace, to learn to know and walk with Him even better than they have been. A large part of this daily walk with God is patient endurance in suffering. It is often through this same suffering that we grow even more in our faith. Therefore we press on for the sake of all that we are and have from God, especially the redemption of our sins in Christ Jesus.

The Lord could speak from the heavens with a voice like a great wind. The Lord could shake the Earth with His wrath. The Lord could cover the earth in miracles of fire. He does not come in wind or earthquake or fire. The Lord comes in the quiet voice of His word. The voice of one who comes in love.

Satan trades one man for two thousand pigs but that one man is worth far more than even six thousand pigs. He is worth more to Jesus than His own life. Satan kills the pigs in order to turn the people again Jesus, but in so doing everyone sees with their own eyes the great thing Christ has done. Satan fills the people with fear so that they run Jesus out of town, yet Jesus leaves behind the quiet voice which is a constant witness to His love and power.

Monday June 17, 2019 Text: John 8:48-59 Speaker: Pastor Matthew Ude Festival: Trinity Passages: John 8:48-59
When we deny the trinity we deny the only name by which we can be saved. The Jews resorted to name calling rather than acknowledge the truth of who Jesus was. Abraham knew that name and rejoiced in the salvation it offered. The Father glorifies the Son so that through Him we might have salvation.

They returned but the Lord was with them, even so we walk with assurance that He is with us. It was God's word that revealed to Peter what had to be done, even so we walk with assurance that His Word will guide us. God chose Matthais, even so we walk with assurance that He has a plan for us.

Although He is not seen yet He is with us always. He is with us with power having received all authority from the Father. He will come again in glory. This means that my greatest treasures are those things that are not seen. I have been raised from dust to be a son of God. And I will be glorified with Him.

Monday May 20, 2019 Text: Acts 11:1-18 Speaker: Pastor Matthew Ude Festival: Easter Passages: Acts 11:1-18
Peter and the early Christians had to learn that there was no longer any distinction between the Israelites and the Gentiles. Now they are all one in Christ. We too need to learn not to look down on or judge that which God has cleansed. This includes both our fellow Christians and ourselves. The Father has promised that we are clean in the blood of Christ. Who are we to say or think otherwise?
